MIB – MEO International Backbone

Traffic Routing

  • IP traffic is delivered via dedicated optical interfaces and carried over MEO’s fully redundant DWDM network and IP/MPLS core network;

  • It is routed through multiple public and private peering connections and direct interconnections, ensuring optimized routes, low latency, and high performance, while keeping access to content and applications close to end users.

Interconnection

  • The MEO International Backbone (MIB) connects directly to the world’s major Internet networks and has multiple points of presence (POPs) in Europe, with connectivity supported by submarine cable systems and terrestrial transport.

Latency and Diversity

  • To ensure low latency and routing diversity, the MIB is connected to more than 2,000 active peering sessions, both public and private.

Routing

  • BGP4/6 peering with full or customer-defined routes;

  • BGP sessions with MD5 authentication;

  • Support for jumbo frames (subject to technical validation).

Bandwidth Profiles

  • Flexible and tailored to the customer's needs (e.g., ranging from 100 Mbps on GE to multiple Gbps on 10GE and 100GE);

  • In most cases, the bandwidth upgrade can be performed without interrupting service.

Availability

  • Available at select data centers, colocation facilities, and submarine cable landing stations in Portugal and at the major European hubs where MEO operates;

  • Service availability and delivery times are subject to technical feasibility verification.

  • Please provide the desired location/PoP, the interface type (GbE/10GbE/100GbE), the initial bandwidth, and the desired delivery date;

  • MEO will confirm feasibility, present the commercial terms, and coordinate the installation and interconnection process to ensure prompt service delivery.
