MEO welcomes 63 talented young professionals who are now beginning their
careers at the company through the 2026 edition of the DarWiN Trainee Program.
With an average age of 23 and backgrounds primarily in Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), they arrive at MEO with new skills,
new perspectives, and a desire to actively participate in the company’s transformation.
This new cohort is also marked by the integration of 23 trainees from the previous cohort
into MEO’s permanent staff, demonstrating that DarWiN can be the first step on a
professional journey at the company and reinforcing MEO’s commitment to attracting, developing, and
retaining talent.
At a time when technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Cloud, Automation, and
Cybersecurity are profoundly transforming business and the way
people work, MEO believes that its transformation is built on the
combination of experience accumulated over decades and the ability of new
generations to question, experiment, and propose new ways of doing things.
This is the challenge set for the new DarWiNs: to come not just to learn how
MEO works, but to be part of what MEO wants to become in the future. From the
very first day, trainees are integrated into teams and real projects, where they can
contribute their knowledge, curiosity, and ability to look at challenges
from a different perspective.
According to Ana Figueiredo, CEO of MEO, “a company that wants to transform itself needs
talent capable of imagining what does not yet exist. These young people come to MEO with
knowledge, curiosity, and a, and we want them to have the space
to ask questions, experiment, and make their mark. We have a history spanning decades of
connecting Portugal, but MEO’s future is being built right now by people who know
that technology only makes sense when it has an impact on people’s lives and on business.”
According to Madalena Albuquerque, Chief People Officer at MEO, “DarWiN is a gateway
to MEO, but above all, it’s an opportunity to be part of its
transformation from day one. We want these young people to have an active voice,
work on concrete challenges, and find room to grow, learn, and
contribute. The hiring of 23 trainees from the previous cohort shows that this path can
be the start of a career at MEO.”
Over the course of the 12-month program, trainees will gain exposure to different areas and
projects within the organization, combining hands-on experience,
skills development, and close mentoring. Artificial Intelligence, Data, Cloud,
Cybersecurity, and Automation are some of the areas where they will be able to apply their
knowledge and contribute to specific business challenges.
Since its launch in 2019, the DarWiN Program has already enabled hundreds
of young professionals to join MEO, contributing to the renewal of skills and the
building of an organization prepared to meet the challenges of an industry undergoing
profound transformation.
With this new edition, MEO continues to invest in a culture where experience and new
ideas come together, knowledge is shared, and everyone is called upon to contribute to
writing the company’s next chapter.
