MEO andNokia have strengthened their collaboration to accelerate the evolution toward increasingly autonomous AI-native networks through a joint innovation program dedicated to applying artificial intelligence and automation in real-world network environments. The initiative aims to explore new ways to integrate AI into the design, operation, monitoring, and optimization of networks, making them progressively smarter, more adaptable, and more autonomous. The goal is to develop and test concrete use cases that enable networks to detect changes, anticipate needs, and respond more quickly and efficiently.
The program is part of MEO’s strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Innovation and its long-term vision for telecommunications infrastructure that is increasingly intelligent, resilient, and autonomous. The collaboration with Nokia makes it possible to apply this approach to the field of networking, combining MEO’s operational expertise, network capabilities, and growing AI know-how with Nokia’s technological expertise.
The initiative reflects MEO's commitment to paving the way for the next generation of communications networks and turning AI innovation into tangible results.AI is becoming a fundamental layer of future networks, enabling them to detect, predict, and respond with greater speed, accuracy, and autonomy.
“Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way communications networks are designed, operated, and experienced. At MEO, we are developing the capabilities needed to turn this evolution into concrete applications, combining the expertise of our teams with the experience of leading technology partners. “This program allows us to explore new ways to build smarter, more resilient, and more efficient infrastructure, creating greater value for our customers and also helping to strengthen Portugal’s position in the digital economy,” emphasized José Pedro Nascimento, Chief Technology Officer at MEO.
“Our collaboration with MEO demonstrates how AI can move beyond the experimental phase to have a tangible impact on communications networks. By working together on real-world use cases, we are exploring new ways to make networks smarter, more adaptable, and more autonomous, while delivering tangible benefits for network performance and the customer experience,” said John Harrington, senior vice president and head of Nokia’s European operations.
