As part of a strategic move that reinforces MEO Energia commitment MEO Energia the competitiveness of Portuguese companies, this rate adjustment introduces a more advantageous calculation formula, reducing the fixed charge—which consumers had previously been paying at a rate of 50€/MWh—to 15€/MWh.
Further driving down prices, this sales margin is now also treated as a separate component and is no longer affected by the loss factor—an adjustment coefficient set by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) to account for energy losses during transmission and distribution in the grid.
“This offer is designed for companies that operate in sync with the solar cycle, allowing them to benefit from more efficient, competitive, and sustainable energy. We combine price, predictability, and environmental commitment in a solution tailored to the challenges of today and tomorrow,” says Paulo Hipólito, CEO of MEO Energia.
Available to business customers on the Standard Low-Voltage (BTN), Special Low-Voltage (BTE), and Medium-Voltage (MT) plans, the Dynamic Rate Plan is designed for companies whose operating hours align with the solar production cycle.
With prices updated every 15 minutes, this solution enables sectors such as manufacturing, services, and logistics to optimize energy consumption and increase operational efficiency.
Practical Impact and Real Savings
The revision of the calculation formula makes the rate structure more competitive and better aligned with the needs of the business community, especially in contexts of high energy consumption.
As an example, consider a company in the Special Low-Voltage (BTE) category and a market price (OMIE) of 60 €/MWh:
- Using the previous formula: The cost would be 127.6 €/MWh.
- With the new formula: The cost drops to 105.48 €/MWh, representing a direct savings of approximately 22 €/MWh.
Sustainability as a Competitive Advantage
By providing 100% green energy and solutions tailored to customers’ actual consumption profiles, MEO Energia consolidates its role as a strategic partner in companies’ energy transition, reaffirming the alignment between economic growth and environmental responsibility.
In addition to reducing energy costs, signing up for the Dynamic Rate Plan helps improve organizations’ ESG performance (environmental, social, and governance) through the use of 100% green energy and the resulting reduction in their carbon footprint.
