MEO is taking another step toward building a more secure communications ecosystem with the launch of
Origem MEO, a new call verification service exclusive to the MEO network. Pioneering and free of charge, this call security solution confirms to customers that the call they are receiving is actually from a number on the MEO network, reinforcing trust and transparency in communications.
At a time marked by an increase in fraud and telephone scams, particularly the theft of mobile phone numbers, the Origem MEO service reinforces the brand's commitment to digital responsibility, offering a more secure network that protects customers and takes the communication experience to a new level of trust.
Whenever a MEO customer receives a call from another MEO number—whether in Portugal or abroad (roaming)—they will see a graphic and/or text message on their mobile phone screen confirming that the number has been verified by the MEO network systems. Depending on the type of device, this indication may appear in the form of a visual symbol, such as a green tick, or a message, such as "Valid number" or "Validated by MEO."
Starting today, the Origem MEO service is available across the entire mobile network, with no activation required and at no additional cost to the user. The service also covers UZO and MOCHE customers, ensuring the same level of security and reliability in communications. It works on Android devices with 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi voice connections and will soon be available on iPhone devices as well.
This service is now part of MEO's portfolio of digital protection solutions, where offerings such as MEO Net Segura — already with more than 500,000 subscribers — demonstrate the growing relevance of this type of solution for our customers. The introduction of this new solution reinforces MEO's commitment as a Safer Network, one of the strategic pillars in the continuous development of solutions that raise the standards of protection, trust, and peace of mind for consumers and businesses.
