MEO Sons do Mar Enhances the Festival-Goers' Experience with New Activities, Technology, and Accessibility

MEO Sons do Mar returns to Santa Catarina Park in Funchal on September 4 and 5, with an edition that promises to elevate the festival-goers’ experience through an expanded lineup, new brand experiences, and a continued commitment to accessibility for all audiences.

Attentive to evolving industry trends and audience expectations, the festival is introducing a new feature to its lineup this year: after the main concerts, the music continues with DJ sets, extending the experience beyond the main stage and turning the end of each night into a true celebration. This new feature reflects the festival’s desire to provide more opportunities for socializing and entertainment, responding to the growing demand for increasingly comprehensive experiences within the venue.

In addition to music, the festival reinforces its focus on innovation and brand engagement through the MEO Lounge, an exclusive space for socializing and networking. This year, Dell Technologies is joining the event through a partnership with MEO Empresas, further highlighting the growing appeal of MEO Sons do Mar among technology brands seeking to create unique experiences that foster a closer connection with their audiences.

To meet the demands of an event that attracts thousands of visitors over two days, MEO has enhanced the technological infrastructure at the venue, particularly with regard to the mobile network and connectivity provided to the festival’s various operational areas. This initiative ensures reliable communications, internet access, and support for on-site teams, contributing to a high-quality digital experience for participants, organizers, and partners.

Because “life is better when we are present,” the infrastructure supporting the festival also serves as the foundation for a range of accessibility solutions that make the experience more inclusive for all festivalgoers. The Fundação MEO is once again promoting the “Música com Sentido” initiative, a project that uses technology to eliminate barriers to access to culture and promote more autonomous and inclusive participation. Among the solutions offered, the SENTIDO app—developed by Fundação MEO —stands out. It will allow users to follow concert interpretations in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) in real time, directly on their smartphones. The app also provides information on accessibility resources and services available at the venue, promoting a more independent experience for users. In addition, all concerts will feature Portuguese Sign Language interpreters, and adapted access points and reserved areas for people with limited mobility will also be provided.

By combining music, connectivity, and accessibility, MEO Sons do Mar reinforces its ambition to provide an increasingly inclusive experience, demonstrating how technology can help bring more people closer to culture and live entertainment.
