MEO Monte Verde 2026 brought together approximately 40,000 people at Monte Verde Beach in Ribeira Grande over three days marked by music, innovation, and inclusion. This year’s edition was notable for a significant increase in mobile network usage and an expansion of the accessibility solutions made available to festivalgoers.
Throughout the festival, 11.9 TB of mobile data traffic was recorded, more than double the 5.6 TB recorded in 2025. Of this total, 7.7 TB were processed via the 5G network—more than three times the traffic recorded on this technology during the previous edition.
Meanwhile, the festival’s Wi-Fi network recorded more than 1.5 TB of traffic, connecting more than 3,660 unique devices over the three days.
Network usage also mirrored the growth in voice communications. During the three days of the event, approximately 168,700 calls were made, totaling 176,948 minutes of conversation—up from the 125,000 calls and 131,000 minutes recorded in 2025.
To meet the demands of an event that brings together thousands of people, MEO provided a robust technological infrastructure, allowing festivalgoers to share content, access digital apps and services, and stay connected throughout the festival. The operation was supported by a reinforced mobile network and technological infrastructure installed specifically for the event.
Technology for Inclusion
The 2026 edition also marked a new step forward in festival accessibility in the Azores. After MEO Monte Verde became the first festival in the Autonomous Region of the Azores to offer interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) in 2025, this year’s experience was enhanced through the availability of the SENTIDO app, from Fundação MEO.
Through the app, festivalgoers were able to follow, in real time and from anywhere on the grounds, the LGP interpretation of the concerts held on the MEO stage. The initiative is part of the “Música com Sentido” project, run by Fundação MEO, which uses technology to promote access to culture and provide increasingly inclusive and barrier-free experiences.
