At a time when cybercrime is rampant in Portugal, MEO is launching a new awareness campaign focused on
digital security, with the aim of alerting users to the most common threats in the online environment and reinforcing its commitment to user protection. As such, the brand is taking an active role in promoting digital literacy, helping users identify suspicious communications, prevent online risks, and adopt safer and more informed behaviors when using technology.
Under the slogan “Give Them a Taste of MEO Security,” the campaign uses relatable, clear, and accessible language to address issues such as phishing, spoofing, ransomware, cyberattacks, and digital fraud. Aimed at both individuals and families as well as the business community, the campaign highlights that digital risks cut across all contexts. For Personal consumers, it highlights threats such as online scams and identity and personal data theft; in the
business segment, the focus is on more complex risks, such as cyberattacks, ransom demands, and the compromise of systems and critical information.
Recognizing that digital security must be communicated in a simple and understandable way, the campaign uses real-life stories and everyday situations to make the risks more tangible, translating technical concepts into clear and effective messages. The creative content gives voice to different profiles, such as a fishmonger, a hairdresser, or a car salesman, and depicts real-life situations in which individuals and small businesses encounter fraud attempts or digital attacks, making it easier to recognize these risks and adopt preventive behaviors.
With a multi-channel presence, the B2C and B2B campaign will run throughout the year on digital channels, the website, and in MEO stores, accompanying the gradual rollout of new initiatives and solutions in the area of digital security. This approach reinforces MEO’s role as an operator of an increasingly secure network that places user protection at the heart of its operations.
MEO Net Segura service enhances customer protection
As part of this initiative, MEO is offering new TV customers who sign up for M4e packages the
MEO Net Segura service, free of charge for 24 months. This solution protects internet browsing against threats such as phishing, ransomware, and malware, and is already available in over half a million households. The offer is valid through May 30 and covers the mobile devices included in the package and the home Wi-Fi network, subject to enrollment in electronic billing, direct debit, and a 24-month contract term.
The campaign also benefits from the support of Fundação MEO, which carries out initiatives aimed at promoting digital literacy and the safe use of technology among various audiences. Through awareness-raising, educational, and digital training initiatives—such as the “Communicate Safely” program—it reinforces the MEO Group’s commitment to building a society that is better informed, better prepared, and better protected against the challenges of the digital world.
