Startups in the incubation phase that present innovative projects in relevant technological areas or that promote digital inclusion and communication accessibility can now apply for the new edition of Altice Portugal's innovation award. Entering its 8th edition, the award aims to distinguish, promote and support national and international technological talent. In addition to monetary prizes, the winners will have the opportunity to carry out a proof of concept with Altice, with a view to the evolution of their project, and benefit from incubation services from Startup Lisboa/Unicorn Factory Lisboa or Startup Braga, partners of the Award. In addition, the participating startups will also compete for the Born from Knowledge - Awards (BfK), an initiative promoted by the National Innovation Agency (ANI), which aims to distinguish Portuguese projects "born in knowledge", or that stand out in R&D activities.
The 2024 edition of the Altice International Innovation Award features two categories:
- Startup" category - rewards startups, in the incubation phase, that present innovative projects in technological areas relevant to Altice's core business (such as AI/ML, Extended Reality, 5G, IoT, Smart Cities, Big Data, eHealth, Future Networks, Security, among others).
- INCLUI" by Altice Foundation - Promoted by the Altice Foundation, this category honors projects that promote digital inclusion and communication accessibility, namely in school, professional and social contexts, by providing a set of services, solutions or technological initiatives for people with disabilities.
Competing for a total amount of 100,000 euros, distributed between two categories - Startup (75,000 euros) and "INCLUI" by Altice Foundation (25,000 euros) - AIIA applications must be submitted online using the form available at https://www.alticelabs.com/aiia/. The winners will be announced on November 26, at a ceremony to be held in Lisbon, where the finalists will have the opportunity to defend their projects before a Grand Jury made up of Altice Group officials and relevant personalities from the corporate and business, research and scientific innovation and social media areas. Launched in 2017, the Altice International Innovation Award is one of the largest monetary prizes awarded in Portugal in the area of technological innovation. With a history of more than 600 participants, Altice's innovation award has been an integral part of the national entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, reinforcing Portugal's position worldwide, boosting Portuguese talent and spreading it both inside and outside the country.
