The quality and diversity of the projects submitted exceeded expectations, reflecting the richness of the contemporary art scene.
The shortlist was chosen by the Evaluation Committee, made up of Adelaide Duarte, art historian, researcher and deputy director of the Institute of Art History at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University Lisbon; Manuel da Costa Cabral, Director of the Fine Arts Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between 1994 and 2011; and Pedro Portugal, co-founder of the artistic movements Homeostética, Ases da Paleta, Etno-Estética, Explicadismo, Pandemos, Zuturismo, Arthomem and KWZero.
The selected projects, which will be exhibited at the Altice Foundation's Collection Space, located in Fórum Picoas, on a date to be announced, will be evaluated by the Prize Jury, made up of renowned members of the artistic and academic community, accompanied by a member of the Altice Foundation.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at a date and place to be announced.
Aimed at encouraging the creation of value in contemporary art by supporting projects in the field of fine arts, the award is an initiative of the Altice Foundation and has prizes totaling 40,000 euros: the "Art and Technology" category (30,000 euros) and the "Young Artists" category (10,000 euros).
