Altice Portugal reinforces fiber optic and mobile network expansion in Coimbra

Altice Portugal reiterates its goal of continuing to be the largest investor and partner of Portuguese municipalities as a supplier of state-of-the-art technology.

With this protocol, Coimbra will now have eight new base stations, improving the quality and coverage of the mobile service to almost the entire population (99.9%). The new antennas are located in the parishes of Santo António Dos Olivais, União das Freguesias de Coimbra (Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, Almedina e São Bartolomeu), União das Freguesias de Santa Clara e Castelo Viegas, União das Freguesias de Assafarge e Antanhol, União das Freguesias de São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades, União das Freguesias de Trouxemil e Torre De Vilela and Freguesia de Ceira, in order to strengthen voice and mobile data coverage in and around those areas.

Expanding coverage of the fiber optic network also remains a priority, with plans to exceed 95% of the number of homes in the municipality by the end of 2022.

According to the CEO of Altice Portugal, Alexandre Fonseca, "Altice Portugal is keen to continue investing in strengthening the coverage of its fixed and mobile communications networks nationwide.

We continue to stand by Portuguese municipalities and it is with particular pleasure that we have signed this protocol with Coimbra City Council to provide all residents and their many visitors with a service that fully meets their needs, promoting territorial and social cohesion. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Mayor, José Manuel Silva, and wish the whole team every success in this new challenge for Coimbra."

For the Mayor of Coimbra, José Manuel Silva, it is worth highlighting "the new understanding between the current Executive of Coimbra City Council and Altice", which lifts the constraints created by the previous Executive. According to José Manuel Silva, "it is essential for Coimbra that coverage is strengthened throughout the municipality", and it is also worth highlighting the fact that "the parish of Ceira will be served by fiber optics by Christmas this year".

This protocol reinforces Altice Portugal's commitment to several of its strategic axes - Investment, Proximity and Quality of Service - helping to ensure excellent connectivity and promote the continuous improvement of its customers' experience throughout the country.

Through a totally private, autonomous and voluntary investment, Altice Portugal continues to fulfill its mission of bringing the best technology and innovation to the whole of Portugal. Because
people's access to communications services is essential for the development of the local economy and its competitiveness.

This investment reiterates, once again, Altice Portugal's purpose, which has been the motto for its strong commitment to the national territory: to have Portugal at one speed.
