MEO Empresas announces the launch of 5G API SPRINT, an innovation program that aims to challenge companies, startups and programmers to create prototypes or redesign applications using standard APIs from the MEO network. An initiative that reflects MEO Empresas ' commitment to promoting and supporting technological talent, while exploiting the unprecedented capabilities of the 5G mobile network. APIs are fundamental to digital transformation, responding to the growing demand for agile and efficient solutions. Acting as accelerators in the creation of services in key areas such as security, robotics or health, network APIs bring a range of benefits:

- Flexibility to respond to the growing need for adaptable and scalable solutions at a global level in an increasingly digital environment.

The 5G API SPRINT thus provides participants with the exclusive opportunity to have first-hand access to the standard CAMARA network APIs, which expose the various functionalities of MEO's mobile network. These APIs allow applications and services to be used globally, facilitating integration with the infrastructure of any operator that is part of the GSMA Open Gateway Initiative. MEO has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GSMA Open Gateway, which is dedicated to creating an ecosystem of secure and interoperable network APIs (CAMARA APIs), compatible with the international operators that are part of this program. This collaboration aims to enable programmers to innovate and create state-of-the-art applications, covering areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), digital health or financial services, promoting digital transformation in an interconnected global world. With the support of MEO Empresas, participants in this program will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that meet current and future market needs.
The 5G API SPRINT will make the following APIs available to interested parties:
- Device Identifier: for secure authentication of mobile devices
- SIM Swap: allows you to check the activation date of the SIM card and consult the last swap.
- Device Location Retrieval: provides the geographical location of the SIM card.
- Device Location Verification: confirms that a SIM card is within a specific area.
- Quality on Demand (QoD and QOS Profiles): adjusts the quality of service according to the needs of the application or user.
5G API SPRINT
The 5G API SPRINT was officially presented during the Web Summit, highlighting its importance and innovation in the current scenario. This initiative represents a unique opportunity for companies, startups and technology developers to contribute to digital transformation and the creation of new services in the market.
The application period runs from November 14 to December 11, during which interested parties can submit their proposals on the program's website - https://www.meo.pt/empresas/5g-api-sprint. The competition, which will be limited to the first 30 applications, is aimed at national or international participants, encouraging collaboration and the exchange of ideas between participants from different backgrounds.
In the end, 10 finalists will be chosen who will have free access to the MEO Empresas platform for a year. The 3 winners of the competition will be awarded a cash prize of €5,000 each, as well as passes to the 2025 edition of the Web Summit.
